Born of a royal family, he became the king of Greece at the age of 20 and he was really ambitious about conquering even the whole world! He is the famous Alexander the great of Greece. He is even considered one of history’s most successful military commanders. One day after having conquered a huge part of the earth, he asked his soldiers, “Is there any other place not yet conquered?” Boastfully, Alexander once celebrated his success by organizing a party during which he drank a strongly mixed liquor—assuming to drink it all as a sign of his power—and was intoxicated by it! Some hours later, he was no longer alive! Alexander was really born to expand the territory of Greece though he died so suddenly at the age of 32!
Interestingly, not only Alexander was born to expand but also you and I were born to expand! You may not be having a noble background like being born of a rich family or a presidential family or an educated family. Your background doesn’t matter rather your present attitude matters! This might sound unreal and exaggerating, but the reality is that expanding is a normal life principle. Don’t be discouraged by the smallness of a mustard seed rather look at the enormously big tree it will produce later!
A human is formed when two microscopic cells—spermatozoon and ovum—fuse and form a microscopic egg called ‘zygote’ in the womb. Can you imagine that microscopic zygote expanding to become a 9-month baby ready to be born weighing 3 Kg? It is really amazing to see the apparently inexistent zygote turning into a human with well-functioning organs. The baby later is grown for example into a skillfully intelligent adult working in NASA—the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration—in charge of exploring the infinite universe! This is so amazing, isn’t it?
Life itself is another book from which we can learn tangible truths concerning our existence. Expanding is a life principle and we are all created in such a way that we don’t stay on the same level in all things! I am not talking about the ‘fiction stories’ of Charles Darwin concerning the ‘evolution of species’ as I believe in a fact-based beginning of all—the Creation. I am talking about expanding, moving from one level to another. As we humans are ‘physical-socio-spiritual’ beings, the principle of expanding is applicable in all domains of our life!
When appropriately nourished, humans grow in stature and strength. Our sociability increases too, where we connect ourselves to the outside world made of relatives, friends, colleagues, co-workers, teachers, mentors, bosses, etc. Our spirituality should increase too, as we get to know more about what we ought to believe concerning the Supreme Creator God! When we fail to expand in those 3 aspects, we are acting contrary to life’s principle and thus immaturity, dwarfing, illnesses and even death will occur! We are not created to be static and whoever feels reaching the last level is in danger of not exploring many of the potentials available.
If you are a student, always strive to succeed in higher grades always. If you are a worker, always try to maximize your effort in gaining more. If you are a singer, always try to perform more than usual. If you are a designer, always try to design more skillfully than before. If you are a millionaire, always try to become a billionaire. If you are a leader of 10 people, why can’t you become a leader of 10 million people? If you are an evangelist preacher to hundreds, why can’t you share the gospel to millions? If you are reading with difficulty a single verse from the Bible, why can’t you read all 66 books of it? If you are a ‘blogger’ of 5 posts, why can’t you just blog 100 posts? The list of things to increase is too long to be exhausted just on this page, but one thing is sure; you and I were born to expand!
However, this doesn’t mean to go beyond our abilities but surely a lot of people don’t use fully all they have in themselves! It is astonishing to find someone saying “I have nothing to do now!” I don’t agree that it can happen to someone having nothing to do! Even thinking is doing because our thoughts determine our actions. A successful human doesn’t retire completely. If you are retiring from other people’s stuff, why can’t you run your own stuff? If you are fired out of a certain job, why can’t you find another job whether it be your own or another person? Just pause, breathe and think about plan-B and why not plan-C, plan-D or until plan-Z because there are 26 letters of the English Alphabet! As someone said, I quote, “Never fail to try rather try and fail!”
It doesn’t mean that life’s principle of expanding is sweet like ‘birth-day cakes’. No, it simply means to keep moving though everything seems to mess-up! Everything may seem to go wrong but remember that your attitude determines a fruitful end. Just keep on wisely expanding your God-given potentials no matter what is around or within your circle! Manage well your time, have positive clean thoughts, look for an encouraging environment, trust God and the results will be rewarding! Surely, life’s principle of expanding is real and productive and if we should act accordingly, what amazing results would it bring into our lives!
