Have you ever had an appointment that you deeply consider as serious and yet the other person considers it as optional? This may have resulted in a real disappointment in case that appointment happened to be the opposite of what you were hoping for. Disappointments are failed appointments.
Shared goals are appointments. Shared promises are appointments. Shared contracts are appointments. Agreed schedules are appointments. When they happen to be contrary to our expectations, they turn into disappointments. Disappointments are failed appointments.
Appointments are based on trust. Trust requires commitment. Commitment requires efforts. Without efforts, there is no commitment and without commitment, there is no trust-guarantee. Disappointments range from low, mild to severe stages depending on the degree of expectations from appointments and the trust invested in them. Life is like a climate. Just as climate changes, life changes too. Climate change may not be accurately predicted, but our preparedness may reveal the degree at which climate change may affect us. Disappointments may not be accurately predicted, but our preparedness for them may be predicted. Disappointments are failed appointments.
Life doesn’t end in disappointments. Disappointments are part of this earthly life. Disappointments are not meant to kill us, they are meant to shape us into stronger people. They are also meant to help us master our emotional intelligence. Disappointments may help us to adjust the way we invest our trust in appointments. Disappointments can make us move from our comfort zones into the zones of reality where our success lies. Disappointments can help us have new appointments that may grow us into the best versions of ourselves.
Above all, disappointments can be our turning points where we realize that we need to depend and trust God who is the ever-faithful Friend we can have in this life and the life to come. Cast your cares and burdens on Him because you can never burden or exhaust Him. Don’t live the pain of the disappointments you have had. Instead, live the lessons that came with them and learn to move forward in your God-given life. Don’t waste your soul energy in burning your nerves thinking of what you wish things could have happened. Have a mind shower and wear new shoes to help you move toward your life purpose. Remember, you were given this life because you are strong enough to live it!
