Have you heard of or watched a movie called “Titanic” which means ‘Indestructible’? The story of the Titanic ship is one of the most tragic events that has ever happened to this Planet Earth. The builder of this modern “Noah’s Ark!” had said that the name ‘Titanic’ was designed to mean that nothing could destroy it! The New York Herald of Tuesday, April 15th, 1912 reported the disastrous event saying that Titanic ship with 1,800 people hit a rock of ice in the pacific sea and sank and that only 675 people, mostly women, and children, were saved! It’s hard to tell the feelings of those who lost their loved ones who had shipped into the “Indestructible”, the Titanic!

People had a strong faith in the architect of Titanic but they forgot that this earthly life is filled with many unexpected things! Life is filled with many ups and downs! Life is filled with successes and failures! Life is not a horizontal line, Life is not perfect at all. Many people are in a great depression simply because things happened the way they thought it would not and they failed to accept it. Everyone who has, at least, lived on this earth has faced unexpected things! From the accidentally aborted births to the airplane crashes, humans have realized that life is oftentimes beyond our control.

No matter how life may become, the only way of being affected—either positively or negatively—is through our attitude! What do I mean by attitude? Attitude can be compared to the glasses through which we see things! Many of our failures may be our stepping stones toward success. I can remember someone called Thomas Edison who invented the lamp bulb, it is said that he failed 1000 times and succeeded on the 1001st time. When asked how he felt about failing thousand times he replied, “I didn’t fail 1000 times instead I have discovered 1000 ways of not making a lamp bulb!” What a positive mindset of Thomas Edison! Another person I can recall is Albert Einstein who struggled with teachers in high school who accused him of not being good at mathematics and kicked him of classes! However, Einstein is a famous physicist of this age with his tremendous discoveries of gravitational relativity! Albert Einstein also said, I quote, “A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.”

Life may not work out well, but this should not be a hindrance to our progress. We should keep moving toward where we want to be. People may gossip about our weaknesses, but keep silent and your works will speak louder than their gossiping. People may reject your achievements, but pause and reflect and keep moving conveniently. You may fail one exam but remember there are other exams to pass with flying colors! You may be kicked-off in one job, but keep moving forward to what is better. Someone said, the sky is the limit but we should work as if there is no limit as mankind has started landing on the moon—above the sky we see! In whatever good you do, do it to the maximum and the results will be rewarding.

Be focused and don’t be toasted to and fro by discouragements from the externals. Strive for what is better and always remember that the best is yet to come! I love the verse from my favorite Book here on Earth—the Bible—which states in the book of Proverbs 16:3, “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” Trust God wholly and don’t be too negative to realize the brighter view ahead. Stay positive amid all kinds of troubles you may meet, one step farther can make a tangible difference.
